Professor Peter Bush, Independant Governor

profbushx1502Peter Bush joined the Board in November 2008 and is currently a member of the Remuneration Committee.

Peter was Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Northampton from 2005, where he had oversight of learning and teaching, quality, standards and educational partnerships. He was appointed as Deputy to the Vice Chancellor in September 2009, until his retirement in the summer of 2011.

Peter is a University College London geography graduate and commenced his academic career at Staffordshire University before moving to Scotland at Glasgow Caledonian University and then to the Open University where he was Regional Director in the South West of England, Acting Regional Director in Wales and then Head of Regional Collaboration.

Peter continues to be an academic reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), a role he has had since 1993. He has been a member of a number of national higher education committees in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.  He is currently a member of the HEFCE Widening Access and Participation Strategic Advisory Committee, and has recently been appointed Honorary Life President of the Quality Strategy Network.

Married with two grown up children, Peter is a soccer and cricket enthusiast and enjoys music and reading.
