Course overview
The BA (Hons) International Tourism Management degree at Southampton Solent University aims to produce graduates who can work effectively in the increasingly competitive field of international tourism.
The programme is designed to enable you to develop management and tourism knowledge and skills, and then apply these to an international tourism environment.
The course aims to provide you with the qualities, skills and knowledge to make an immediate contribution to the industry and develop a successful career in the world's largest growth sector.
Through lectures, small seminars and computer-based lessons, you will develop an understanding of the international tourism industry, exploring subjects such as tourism development and impact issues, tourism policy and contemporary tourism issues. You will also study related disciplines such as psychology, geography and environmental studies.
All students undertake a period of study abroad for the full second academic year of the course. This is undertaken in a higher education establishment at one of Southampton Solent University's international partners in Canada, Finland, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, or the USA.
Industrial focus
The course offers a blend of theory and practice and will help develop the skills that are essential in employment. In addition, work experience can be undertaken to enhance your prospects and establish important contacts within the tourism industry.
