Cowes week
August 2 2010
Following a successful partnership in 2009, Cowes Week Limited and Solent Productions have teamed up for the world famous 2010 regatta.
Media students at Southampton Solent University will gain valuable hands-on experience through the provision of television production and broadcast support to one of the most high profile events in the yachting calendar.
Solent University Director of Marketing & Communications, Trevor Thorne, said: “Our strengths in media and maritime education combine to make us a natural choice for providing television production and broadcast support at this iconic event. The University is proud to be associated with Cowes Week.”
The support provided by the University provides media students with the chance to work as professional suppliers of sports programming alongside industry experts and Solent graduates. Solent Productions, the University's dedicated media production centre, is providing the students with its high spec equipment to film the week's action - giving instant and comprehensive footage for TV networks across the globe, as well as for the event's official website.
Cowes Week Marketing Director, Michelle Warner, said: “In 2009 Solent Productions provided us with outstanding support and media content. We are delighted to further our relationship with the University this year and provide even more opportunities for students to gain some valuable hands-on experience”.
Daily VNRs are available for broadcasters to download from the Cowes Week website throughout the event. VNR material from the 2009 event is also currently available. www.cowesweek.co.uk||.
