How do I apply?

Full-time courses

How to apply

If you are applying for a full-time/sandwich undergraduate course you must apply through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). This includes mature, overseas and EU applicants.

For further information visit the UCAS website|. If you would like general information about the application process, you can contact the UCAS Customer Service Unit|.

When to apply

Your application should normally reach UCAS by January if you're hoping to start a course in the autumn of that year. Applying early is advisable for the most popular subject areas, although applications may be accepted throughout the year. Southampton Solent University accepts applications until June, after which time applications are diverted through the UCAS clearing system. If you are applying to Southampton Solent University and miss this deadline, please telephone the appropriate faculty office to check whether an application could still be considered - on some courses this may be possible.

For further information about the UCAS deadlines see the UCAS application timeline|

Clearing

This is the process whereby an institution will make all their available places on courses open to students who have not already been accepted or have been rejected from a university. Therefore, if you do not get the grades you were expecting or are late in applying you may be able to apply for a course at another university through 'Clearing'.

Clearing also enables you to apply to the same university for a slightly different course.

Some universities offer courses through clearing with slightly lower grade requirements, so you may be able to shop around. However, you should be aware that all these courses are operated on a first come, first served basis - so you'll need to make a quick decision!
