Keep Quiet and Carry On Campaign
The Keep Quiet campaign is a new initative from the University's Community Relations
Office. The campaign has the aim of cracking down on noise nusiance from students on their way home from a night out and general amplification such as loud music and shouting.
The campaign was first launched at the Welcome to Your Neighbourhood event where students were informed of the affect of their noise on non-student residences in the Polygon area. Raising awareness of non-student families with children, the elderly and people with different shift patterns was paramount in making the campaign a success.
The branding has featured online, at events and via student resources and aims to consistently remind students to be aware of their neighbours and to remain considerate. The campaign also aims to raise awareness of personal safety and to encourage students to act in a safe and responsible manner.
With thanks to Central Baptist Church, signs were posted on their premises externally to carry the message of keeping quiet in this key location.
The campaign has also been rolled out at each of the University's Student Residences in poster form.
Southampton Solent University is committed to promoting positive community relations campaigns involivng students and the local community.
Stop Your Screaming Campaign
Past campaigns have included 'Stop Your Screaming' which was also targeted at reducing noise nuisance. The student-designed poster is still used regularly across the campus. The campaign was aimed at students and is designed to remind them to keep the noise down as not everyone keeps the same hours as they do.
