Knowledge transfer

The University is keen to transfer and exchange knowledge and 'know-how' with regional and local businesses and employers and with the wider community. In particular, it provides the following range of knowledge transfer and exchange services:

  •   Contract and applied research
  •   Consultancy
  •   Product development and testing
  •   Design-to-Market commercialisation
  •   Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)
  •   Incubation
  •   Joint ventures
  •   Support for social enterprise
  •   Professional development and technical training
  •   Advisory services.

As of October 2008, each of the University's three faculties has a Solent Enterprise Centre to coordinate, manage and deliver all faculty knowledge transfer and exchange specialisms and expertise and other full-cost enterprise activities. These are:

  • Solent Enterprise Centres: Business and Professional Development (Faculty of Business, Sport and Enterprise)
  • Solent Enterprise Centres: Sport, Tourism and Languages (Faculty of Business, Sport and Enterprise)
  • Solent Productions (Faculty of the Creative Industries and Society)
  • Solent Enterprise Centres: Innovation and Design (Maritime and Technology Faculty
  • Solent Enterprise Centres: Maritime Management (Maritime and Technology Faculty)
