Team Solent
Southampton Solent University has over 30 student sports teams which compete as ‘Team Solent’. Team Solent finished 59th out of 147 Higher Education establishments in the BUSA (now BUCS) league in 2007/8, climbing 43 places since 2001, making Southampton Solent University one of the most improved Higher Education establishments in the UK.
We offer a variety of clubs in relation to students needs. These are always responsive to changing trends, so as well as offering the more traditional sports such as football, rugby, netball, etc, we also offer facilities and resources for growing clubs such as mountain sports and wakeboarding. Students are welcome to join the clubs as they cater for all abilities, with some students taking up a new sport during their time at University. We also offer support for elite athletes encouraging them to balance their studies with their sporting interest through our STAND (Solent Talented Athlete Network Development) Scheme.
