Fashion and Media Styling courses

Courses include:

Your portfolio should include a maximum of 8-10 pieces of creative work that demonstrate your interest in the particular course you have applied for. Examples of work may be attempts at fashion styling, retail research, photographs of make up and hair looks you have created. Most importantly this work should show your passion for your chosen course.

You are requested to bring one sketchbook that shows development of ideas including drawing and/or photographs, garment development and project research.

Please bring one piece of written work such as an essay or report that you feel demonstrates your writing and analytical skills.

The most important thing to remember is that you should try to represent your particular creative direction and personal interests through your portfolio.

Specific guidance for:

BA (Hons) Fashion Styling (Make-Up and Hair Design) 

  • Most importantly, photographs of any styling that you have done.
  • Magazine, retail or Fashion company/trend research.

BA (Hons) Make-Up and Hair Design for Music, Film and Photography

  • Fashion Photography showing your ability to style a look, including the make up and hair design as well as clothing.
  • Demonstrate your interest in make up and hair design and how you enjoy using make up as a medium to communicate your ideas.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of current hair and make up trends across film, music and fashion, through mood boards or sketchbooks.

Please ensure that you have labelled your portfolio clearly with your name, address and college/school.
