Project Manager Gary Seward

"I thoroughly enjoyed my three years at Southampton Solent University. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing."

Course attended:
BEng (Hons) Engineering with Business|

Gary came to Southampton Solent University from Itchen College mainly because of the excellent recommendations from friends studying here. The course with its diverse range of units was a good choice and helped Gary gain commercial awareness and organisational skills. And the university being located in his hometown Southampton made it financially viable for him.

After graduating, Gary was appointed by SEC as an electrical projects supervisor managing projects from conception to completion. He was then offered a job as a project manager with Fleet Support Limited (FSL), a Portsmouth Naval Base support company and has recently been promoted to one of the lead project managers within the company.

Gary's role in Fleet Support Limited is mainly working on high-profile projects based around electrical infrastructure, security systems and full-scale building refurbishments.

The company has recently granted him funding approval for a Master's degree in Project Management and Leadership at Portsmouth University. In future Gary hopes to attain a chartership in electrical engineering and a higher managerial role at Fleet Support Limited.

Gary says:

"I would recommend Southampton Solent University to everyone. Not only do you get an excellent academic education but also through meeting new people, seeing and trying new things you get a life's lesson too."
