Lucy's hometown is Cambridge, and she came to Southampton Solent University as she was impressed with the Business School and the IT facilities. Lucy says that the best thing about the course was the tutors' ability of drawing on their own professional experiences and applying them to the syllabus. This was really effective and helped the course group understand and learn more about the subject and its relevance in the real world.
After graduating, Lucy joined Price Bailey LLP (Chartered Accountants), one of UK's top 40 chartered accountancy firms as a graduate human resources trainee. She was later made Human Resources Officer, and the company has also sponsored her in undertaking the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development professional qualification to help her progress in her career as a human resources professional.
Lucy says:
"Make the most of the time and opportunities that you have at Southampton Solent University. The two main skills attained by me at the University were organisation skills (planning, co-ordination, prioritisation and time management) and 'people skills (communication and negotiation). They're vital in the field of human resources."
