Simon Cenamore
Copywriter, Leith Agency
"My three years at Southampton Solent University were good. While doing my course I developed group-working skills, and a good understanding of the variety of roles within the advertising industry. Along with learning a lot, I also made some good friends."
Course attended:
BA (Hons) Advertising
Simon graduated from Southampton Solent University after studying HND Design (Communications), followed by the BA (Hons) Advertising top-up. It was the time spent on the Advertising course that made Simon realise that being a creative was what he really wanted to do. He enjoyed the creative elements of the course, but it also developed his group-working skills and gave him a good understanding of the variety of roles within the industry.
After an intense final year, Simon went travelling around Spain and Portugal for two months. On his return he moved up to London, and started his placement at Leith London. The agency is a part of the Scottish-based Leith Agency and has impressive clients like Carling, Grolsch, Irn-Bru, Hotpoint and Goodfella's pizza. Simon's role as copywriter involves him working with an art director to come up with ideas for adverts. And among other projects, his major success has been with the Goodfella's campaign, which got him credit in the Campaign! magazine.
Simon says:
"It's difficult getting a job in advertising. And now that the Goodfella's advert is such a success I just want to get as much work out in the public eye as possible."
