Lisa Wilson

Lisa Wilson at her graduationIt is with regret that we must inform you of the death of Lisa Wilson. Lisa graduated from the former Southampton Institute with an HND in Business and Marketing (2000) and a BA(Hons) in Business Management (2001).

Following graduation Lisa worked for several months in order to save money so that she could live her dream of travelling the world.

Lisa travelled to America with a friend, Jo Harwood, visiting San Francisco, Monterey and Los Angeles spending time at Universal Studios and Hollywood. From there they went on to Fiji, likening the conditions on the island to how they would have imagined Pulau Tiga, the island which was used in the TV reality game show Survivor 1, to be. Lisa and Jo spent some time island hopping and grew to love the island and its people. The next destination for the pair was New Zealand where Lisa completed a bungee jump and a free fall parachute jump. From New Zealand Lisa and Jo moved on to Australia. They spent time in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Kangaroo Island which was according to Lisa, "a hop, skip and a jump to paradise".

It was during her time in Australia, that Lisa was tragically killed in November 2002 in a car crash en route to Ayres Rock.

Lisa's parents have set up a 'Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund' in memory of Lisa, which has raised £50,000 to date. This will help students in less privileged positions take up higher education studies at the Southampton Solent University. Four students will be funded with an annual bursary for the duration of their HND or degree within Southampton Business School.

A website has been set up in her memory which also contains more details about the fund. Visit www.lisathedaddy.com| for more details.
