Steve Drodge
Died February 2004
We are sad to report that Steve Drodge, who worked as the Deputy Director in the International Office until the mid-1990s, has passed away.
He is remembered as an intelligent and humourous man who left his mark on the department thanks to his achievements in developing the Erasmus/Socrates programme for international study. He is described by colleagues who knew him as having been a good friend and an excellent ambassador for what was then, Southampton Institute.
He was greatly missed when he left the Institute to take up a senior academic position in the Education Faculty at Nottingham University in order to be closer to his family. It was here he started work on his PhD and, unfortunately is was during his completion of his research in late 2003 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Despite his efforts to make his final viva, scheduled for February/March this year, he sadly died on Thursday, 19 February. He is survived by his wife Caroline and his two daughters Ellie and Anna.
If anyone would like the address details for his family, please e-mail Robyn Mills at robyn.mills@solent.ac.uk|.
