Certificates

The certificate that the University issues as proof of the conferment of an award is a unique and valuable document that should be carefully preserved by its recipient.

The certificate shows the student's full name, course title, level of award, classification (if applicable) and the date of the award.

All efforts are made to ensure that certificates will be presented to students at the annual graduation ceremonies, however some certificates may not be available for presentation and will therefore be posted to students as soon as possible following the graduation ceremonies. It is not possible to issue a certificate to a student prior to the graduation ceremonies.

The name that is shown on the certificate will be the one taken from the student record system which is provided by the student at enrolment. This should be the student's full legal name, including any middle names. Initials will not be printed on certificates. It is not possible to alter the name on a certificate following its production.

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the details held on the student record system are accurate and up-to-date. Please contact the faculty office by 31 August 2012 in the event of any changes being required.

Certificates that are not presented at graduation will be sent to the home address which is held on the student record system, although this is dependent on the student not having any outstanding debt to the University. Certificates will be posted approximately 4 weeks after graduation.  Items will be sent by recorded delivery to UK addresses and by airmail to all non-UK addresses. Students can update their home address through the 'My Details' section of the student portal. Certificates sent by recorded delivery that cannot be delivered by Royal Mail will be returned to the University and stored for one year following your ceremony.

A certificate that has become lost following posting will require payment in order for a duplicate to be issued if the enquiry is made more than six months after dispatch.
