Biography

Georgina qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and worked in private practice specialising in Company Law and Commercial Property Law at Coles Miller Solicitors in Poole. Georgina joined Southampton Solent University in 1997 as a Lecturer in Law. Georgina has over 12 years experience of leading, developing and delivering undergraduate, postgraduate and professional law courses. She retained her links with professional practice, acting as a consultant solicitor.

Georgina was appointed Faculty Associate Dean Enhancement in 2007. She is responsible for overseeing quality and enhancement activity within the Faculty, including curriculum monitoring and development, research and enterprise activity, and academic staff development. She continues to teach on the LLB, and she is the leader of the Equality Research Cluster.

Georgina was a member of the successful SSU Strategic Development Fund Bid Team (curriculum development strand leader) which secured £7.6 million HEFCE Strategic Development funding for SSU in 2009. Georgina was included in the 2008 Law RAE submission. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy – and a Senior Fellow Independent Referee.

Research interests

Georgina’s main subject based research interests are equity and equality. She is the principal investigator for the Equality Research Cluster. Georgina’s pedagogic research interests are employability skills development and employer engagement within the curriculum.
