Biography

After a successful career in marketing spanning twenty years, Senior Lecturer and a CIM Course Leader, Roger Byatt joined Southampton Solent University in 2001.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Member of the Market Research Society, Roger teaches on undergraduate, post-graduate and Chartered Institute of Marketing courses and specialises in the associated disciplines of consumer behaviour, market research and marketing communications. His favoured approach is to teach theory within a very practical applied framework, to equip students with transferable skills that set them apart as valuable employees.

Outside work Roger likes to spend time with his wife and two teenage boys with whom he enjoys thrill rides and a collective love of the sea and sailing!

Industry experience

Roger's professional marketing background included senior appointments as Marketing Manager for Britannia Building Society, Head of Marketing Strategy with Barclays and senior level consultancy work for companies such as Lloyds Register of Shipping and the Royal Bank of Scotland to name a few.
