Biography

Peter Jordan is currently Course Leader for the BA (Hons) International Business Management degree. After graduating with a combined degree in Law and French, Peter spent several years working in London within both the banking sector and personal investment broking. This professional background provided him with a firm base for a career change when he took an MSc in Tourism Management at the University of Surrey, followed by many years in product management and product development for various tour operators within the travel industry.

Peter was mainly involved in contracting and negotiating involving extensive overseas travel from which he naturally developed an interest in studying and managing different cultural environments. He then started his own freelance travel and tourism consultancy while qualifying as a teacher of English as a foreign language.

After moving from London, Peter joined Southampton Solent University (then Southampton Institute) as a Senior Lecturer in 2001, where he taught on the HND and BA (Hons) Tourism Management courses, specialising in the tour operations sector. In addition, he later started teaching English as a foreign language to international students and became Course Manager for the International Foundation Programme (and the International Postgraduate Foundation Programme for international students).

With an interest and experience in the field of international business, Peter now teaches on the International Business Management and International Tourism Management degrees. He is involved in preparing year 1 students for their study abroad year during their second year at one of the University’s partner institutions in Europe or North America. He is also responsible for incoming exchange students into the Faculty of Business, Sport and Enterprise.
