Biography

Upon graduation from Sheffield Hallam University, Senior Lecturer Marcus Sanger spent five years working for the world’s largest health club operator in positions ranging from gym instructor/personal trainer to club manager. He then spent three years working for a national training provider based in Bristol, delivering and developing learning materials for a range of Central YMCA Qualifications for gym instructors and personal trainers.

In early 2001 he opened a successful private personal training studio on the south coast, Complete Lifestyles Personal Training, where he specialised in back stability (working with a local Physiotherapy clinic), muscle balance/ flexibility, sports performance enhancement; working with racing kart drivers, polo players, LTA futures programme players and SW1 rugby players; and lifestyle modification. In 2007 Marcus was certified by the Arthur Jones Institute, Florida, CA. in the operation of the MedX lumbar extension and knee machines, he is also an SAQ accredited trainer.

He is the creator of the Dynamic Training brand, a series of one day workshops endorsed by SkillsActive/REPs with four CPD points for Personal Trainers, Sports Coaches and Strength and Conditioning Specialists. He has also written qualifications in Sports Conditioning and Circuit Training for the awarding body VTCT. 

Marcus holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and an MSc in Sports Performance; he is a member of the SkillsActive Technical Expert Group (TEG) endorsement panel and has been a lecturer at the University since 2002. Marcus can often be found training in the University facilities or Kayaking and mountain biking in and around Christchurch, Dorset.

Marcus is currently supporting two Southampton Solent University graduates prepare poster presentations for the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) 2011 conference.
