Biography

Senior Lecturer Steve has worked as a technology journalist and editor for ten years during which time he has written for a huge variety of publications including the Independent, Sunday Express, New Statesman and New Woman. He is currently co-authoring his second book in the 'For Dummies' series.

Steve has been lucky enough to meet some really interesting people during his career in journalism and has interviewed Sir Alan Sugar, Richard Branson and a number of other well-known celebrities.

Particiularly interested in how technology is used in journalism his research interests include looking at citizen journalism, social media and the use of user-generated content.

Steve teaches the Marking Magazines unit in Year 2 which involves using the latest software, such as QuarkXPress and InDesign, to create professional looking publications. Steve says: "The students really enjoy the unit because it allows them to lead teams (boss people around for a week!), develop their editing skills and get the satisfaction of creating a magazine from scratch."
