Dr Jing Lu is a Research Fellow in Computer Science and Senior Lecturer in Databases at Solent.
Her research focus lies in data mining and sequential patterns processing, with particular application to Web access patterns mining and modelling. Jing was awarded her PhD in 2006 from the University of Bedfordshire in the area of knowledge discovery in databases.
She had previously been working in Shenyang, China as an Associate Professor in Computer Science at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology. Jing was the academic leader for teaching and research in computer applications with a primary focus on the fields of compiler theory, database management, data mining and knowledge-based systems.
Current teaching for Business IT/IS, Computer Games Development, Computing, ICT, Software Engineering and Web Design students includes Introduction to Databases, Internet Technology, and Advanced and Distributed Databases.
Research supervision
I have supervised Masters by Research students in China in the Design and Implementation of Sequential Patterns Graph, Concurrent Branch Patterns Mining and Post Sequential Patterns Mining projects, all related to my research in Knowledge Discovery in Databases.
I have the knowledge and ability to supervise PhD students at Solent in data mining, databases and related areas such as: Web data mining; structural relation patterns modelling; database theory and provenance; and database technologies and their application to real-world problems.
