Biography

Ramesh joined Faculty of Technology as a senior lecturer in 2006. He is a member of Chartered Institute of Building and fellow of Higher Education Academy.

Ramesh serves as a staff governor and is a member of the ethics standing panel in the Faculty of Technology.
Ramesh obtained his Civil Engineering degree in 1992 from the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal; his Master of Engineering in Construction Engineering and Management in 1996 from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and his PhD from the University of Teesside in 2002. Ramesh received further awards for his achievement during his degree; DAAD (German) scholarship to study for his Master's degree and the Overseas Research Student Award for his PhD.

Ramesh started his career as a design engineer and worked in various roles within the construction industry; carrying out feasibility studies, designing and managing road and expressway construction, hydropower, and various building projects in Nepal and Thailand.

After his PhD Ramesh worked for five years in roles such as research fellow and construction IT specialist in the University of Teesside. These posts involved dealing with business process improvement and adoption of Information Technologies by both construction and manufacturing companies. As a postdoctoral researcher, he was awarded the CRUCIBLE fellowship in 2004 by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA).

Ramesh has written papers in international journals and conferences and serves as a reviewer of various international journals. His research interests include construction Information Technology and simulation modelling, project planning, off-site construction, lean construction and energy management in buildings.
