Biography

Sarah started her career as an architect, and worked on a variety of projects including residential, commercial, and large scale development schemes. She received a Masters in Architecture (M Arch) from the University of Liverpool where her research was on housing standards in the UK since the 1960’s.

Her academic career began when she joined the Built Environment Subject Group in 1996 as a lecturer in Architectural Technology. She has undertaken the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.

Sarah is the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Architectural Technology and BA (Hons) Interior Design Programmes within the Technology School. Her main teaching areas are architectural design and architectural technology. She teaches on a variety of subjects including construction technology, architectural drawing, detailing and presentation, and contract documents.

Sarah maintains strong links with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), the qualifying body for architectural technologists, by being an assessor of the Professional and Occupational Performance (POP) Record, which is the first stage of the assessment process for obtaining CIAT’s Chartered status. She has also acted as member of CIAT’s course accreditation panel, and is a member of CIAT’s Standards Group. She also acts as an External Examiner in other academic institutions.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling around the world. Her favourite place is the city of Rome with all its architectural masterpieces from the Coliseum to the Panthoen and St Peter’s Cathedral, not to mention the Spanish Steps, and all the fountains and piazzas.
