David Corless, Director of Estates and Facilities

David CorlessDavid was appointed in 2004 and is responsible for leading the Estates and Facilities team which manages all aspects of estate and property management including acquisition and disposals, capital development, operations and maintenance, facilities management , residential accommodation, health and safety, commercial activities (conferences and catering) and other supporting central services on behalf of the University such as insurance and business continuity. 

He has 25 years experience of managing estates and facilities services in the NHS and Higher Education, having worked for three health authorities/trusts in operational, design and project management roles  for 13 years before joining the HE sector in 1996. Prior to his current post he was Deputy Director of Estates at the University of Bath. 

David holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, a Diploma in Management Studies, and a Masters degree in Facilities Management. He qualified as a Chartered Engineer in 1993. 

He is currently the Chair of the South West Region of the Association of Directors of Estates (AUDE) and a member of its Executive Committee and Training Group. He also represents AUDE on the Universities and Colleges Employers Association Health and Safety Group.
