Dr Joan Stopp, Independent Governor
Joan Stopp joined the Board in August 2010 and sits on the Student Liaison and Experience Committee.
She has a background in chemistry, having graduated from Exeter University with a BSc and later a PhD.
Joan was an expatriate for many years enjoying postings in The Netherlands, the USA and Singapore, where she travelled extensively developing an appreciation of the great cultural diversity of South East Asia. She has worked both inside and outside the UK as an individual tutor, and volunteered with many charities involved with a wide range of disabilities.
She has lived in Hampshire since 2001 and is actively involved with the local Riding for the Disabled group, assisting during riding sessions and organising fundraising events.
Joan is married to Brian and spends a lot of her spare time trying to keep their garden in shape. She also enjoys playing badminton and golf.
