Dr Ramesh Marasini, Staff Governor

 Ramesh Marasini was co-opted to the Board as a Staff Governor in August 2009 and currently sits on the Governance Committee. 

Ramesh started his Civil Engineering career as Design Engineer in 1992 and has worked in various roles within the industry.  Duties have involved carrying out feasibility studies, the design and managing the construction of roads, expressways, hydropower, and various building projects.

Ramesh obtained his PhD from the University of Teesside in 2002. He worked for five years in roles such as Research Fellow and Construction IT Specialist in the University of Teeside. These posts involved dealing with business process improvement and adoption of Information Technologies by both Construction and Manufacturing companies. As a postdoctoral researcher, he was awarded CRUCIBLE fellowship in 2004 by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA).

Ramesh joined Southampton Solent University as Senior Lecturer in Construction Management in 2006. He teaches Strategic Construction Management, Construction Management and Project Management units. He is a fellow of Higher Education Academy, Incorporate Member of Chartered Institute of Buildings and PRINCE2 Practitioner. He has written several journal papers and conferences and serves as reviewer of various international journals. He is actively involved in research in the field of Simulation Modelling, Project Management and Construction Information Technology applications.
