Steve Rose, Staff Governor
Steve Rose was co-opted to the Board as a Staff Governor in August 2009 and is Chairman of the Student Liaison and Experience Committee.
Steve was appointed Head of Library and Learning Services at Southampton Solent University in November 2009 after holding the post of Deputy University Librarian (Learning Resources and Academic Skills) for the previous two years. Prior to that Steve held a number of University library positions in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Oxford, spanning 20 years. The majority of Steve's professional career has been in the field of health and medical librarianship. He moved into mainstream academic library management in 2004 when he was appointed Head of Reader Services at Oxford University Library Services.
Steve gained a BA(Hons) in History from the University of Hull in 1985. Subsequently he gained a Diploma in Librarianship from Leeds Metropolitan University and an MSc in Information Management from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Steve is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). His professional interests include user involvement in the development, delivery and evaluation of library and information services, evidence-based practice and information literacy skills training.
