Suzie Norris-Reeves, Staff Governor
Suzie Norris-Reeves was co-opted to the Board as a Staff Governor with effect from 1 August 2011.
Suzie joined Southampton Solent University in 1993, and in 2003 was appointed Head of the School of Design. She describes herself as a driver of change and a strategic thinker with forward vision and a desire to embrace the needs and expectations of the changing HE environment. Suzie aims to develop a student (learner) experience fit for the twenty first Century that will lead to relevant employment opportunities and meets with the career aspirations for all. She has introduced a number of innovative new undergraduate courses at the University that have recruited well and have received recognition from both industry and academic professionals alike. More recently, she has been working with a number of industry partners building enhancement opportunities for students, staff and for the wider University context.
Suzie is a practicing designer specialising in the design and sample development of leather handbags. She has a BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles degree from Kingston; a Masters in Design Practice from Northumbria University; and is currently undertaking a doctoral research programme in Design Practice at Northumbria University 'Constructing the Fashion Narrative in a Contemporary Context', which seeks to interpret and expose critical reference points of fashion practice deriving importance and insight into the designers thinking, chosen themes, transition of meaning and expression.
