Destinations of leavers from higher education survey
What is the DLHE survey?
The DLHE survey is an annual survey conducted by all UK institutions on behalf of the Higher Education Statistics Authority (HESA). The survey provides information on the employment and further study circumstances of university leavers approximately six months after graduation.
DLHE 2011 information|
How is this information collected?
Solent leavers are contacted by the University in December each year, and invited to complete a postal or online version of the survey. Following this, the University then calls those graduates who have not responded, in order to complete the questionnaire with the leaver over the phone.
Each institution is required to obtain information for at least 80% of its leavers (1), which enables the results to be confidently used. In our most recent survey, information for over 2,000 graduates was collected.
How is this information used?
The University finds this information extremely useful for informing course development, and for focussing careers support. Students and prospective students can also use this information to gain an idea of the career prospects that their course will lead to.
Nationally, the results are used by HESA to measure an institutions employability performance against expectations, and sections of the data are used inform university league tables.
