Research Funding
The University’s funded research activity in 2009-10 showed a continuing improvement over the 2008-09 position. Total income from research grants and contracts was £423k (2008-09 £81k), with HEFCE capability funding of £299k (2008-09 £139k).

During 2009-10 the University appointed a Research and Enterprise Officer whose role is to provide administrative and support services to both academic staff undertaking research and enterprise activities, as well as to post-graduate research students.
The major EU FP7 contract at WMA which started in 2009-10 (income in 2009-10 £384k) is expected to generate income of £664k in 2010-11, and is due to continue into 2011-12.
