Enterprise at Solent: Additional Information
Southampton Solent University is dedicated to the development of enterprise skills in our students.
We want students from all backgrounds and disciplines to feel confident about their future, be it self-employment, employment, volunteering or further education. Providing student enterprise opportunities enhances the skills of our students when it comes to gaining real-life experience and confidence.
University can be one of the most life-changing experiences of a young person’s life, but independence and theoretical learning isn’t always enough to set them up for their chosen career. Enterprise is a skill that can be nurtured and developed as a way of gaining hands-on experience in a social and commercial context.
Solent’s Student Enterprise programmes aim to submerge a student into the real-life experience of working on their own business idea or tackling a real-life business challenge. This experiential learning approach helps students develop relevant capability in the business world. Their experience is supported by mentoring, funding and supervision from the University’s Student Enterprise team and relevant academic staff.

Additional study options on enterprise and entrepreneurship, on both the generation of creative thinking for enterprising ideas and a business planning module to turn those ideas into an investable proposition.
