Dynamo Boot Camp Competition Dynamo Boot Camp Competition 

This years Dynamo Challenge will took place on 7 June 2011

Southampton Solent University took 10 students to this year's challenge held in Portsmouth. 

This year the challenges where set by IBM's Global Entrepreneur Team, with the theme of the day being based on IBM's Smarter Planet. 

The winning team on the day included Solent University Student Alexandra Edwards, who's team decided they would use technology to invent a system on public transport that would inform users of how many seats would be free on the next bus or train. 

The team won a day at Wimbledon as VIP guests of IBM. Congratulations to Alex on her success and all of the other students that took part in the day.

Sife Rookie Camp

Students from Southampton Solent University took part in the SIFE Rookie camp that was held in Bristol. 

The students took part in exercises such as project planning and team recruitment processes. 

The team intends to begin projects this summer.

UnLtd and HEFCE dare to be different: unlocking the potential of social entrepreneurship in higher education conference

Students and Staff from Southampton Solent University attended the UnLtd and HEFCE conference. EduSport Solent and SoFair, two of Solent's Social Enterprises were successful in receiving a UnLtd Dare to be Different start up funding package. 

Solent University's Eco Ernie coordinator Louise Drake was awarded the prestigious Unltd/HEFCE Outstanding Social Entrepreneur Award - Non teaching Staff for all of her work with Eco Ernie which was set up by Louise to help tackle the problem of student goods and furniture being left in the Polygon area of Southampton. 

Louise has recently been involved in spreading the recycling message to schools based in Southampton.

National Recycling Awards

Eco Ernie has also been short listed for the National Recycling Awards for Best Partnership Project for Recycling with Southampton City Council, Southampton Solent University, The Environment Centre, The University of Southampton, Bag it Up, and Central Baptist Church. 

The winners will be announced at the conference.
