Stephen Brown, Enterprise Manager

Role: Stephen’s current role as Enterprise Manager within the Accelerating Enterprise (ACE) team is to help accelerate the enterprise culture at Southampton Solent University via aiding students with mentoring, training and financial support (via the Solent Enterprise mentoring programme), extra-curricular enterprise activities and the embedding of enterprise learning into the University’s curriculum. Stephen is currently running the student entrepreneurship programme workshops.

Experience:  In the first decade of his working life, Stephen worked for Dimplex UK Ltd - the world’s largest electric heating manufacturing company - in a variety of marketing and sales management roles, latterly managing a budget in excess of £7m. He then joined EWT - a German manufacturer of heating products - as National Business Development Manager, working to achieve their inclusion in B&Q’s recommended supplier listings  

Louise Drake, Eco-Ernie Coordinator

Role: Louise's current role is to develop the opportunities that have arisen with the overwhelming success of the Eco-Ernie initiative. Her role is to establish the internal sustainability of the project whilst capturing the knowledge gained from the enterprise to ensure knowledge transfer and exchange in the areas of social enterprise, community engagement, partnership working, volunteering and the IP process.

Experience: After four years of experience in the HR field, Louise came to study Human Resource Management at Solent. Whilst studying, she established the University's student volunteering programme which led to a full-time post at Southampton Solent University, co-ordinating the volunteering programme and a careers mentoring programme. Whilst in post, Louise further developed her knowledge by completing the Excellence in Volunteers Managers course and completing a TQEF project titled 'Embedding Enterprise In the Curriculum' focussing specifically on Social Enterprise.
