Filming Dreadzone

A cross-faculty crew of the University’s media students filmed London band Dreadzone at The Brook recently

A Technical Support crew from MARTEC – working with Tony Wade, Senior Lecturer in Outside Broadcasting – arrived with the Outside Broadcasting truck, a rigged camera and sound kit. Meanwhile, a FCIS camera crew – working with Mark Bloor, Associate Lecturer, TV Production – manned the cameras to film the event.

A second student film crew arrived to interview the band members for Sonar, the University’s own TV station run by media students.Dreadzone

Tony said: “This was a major joint location production using students and resources from both faculties. The FCIS camera crew worked alongside the MARTEC unit manager, camera supervisor and sound crew, to produce sparkling HD pictures of Dreadzone performing to a packed venue. It was a brilliant night with a great band, and the OB truck was definitely rocking from side to side as we recorded the live mix.”

Dreadzone Dreadzone’s Producer and recent Solent graduate, Andy Wilkin, was pleased with the footage, and the house staff at The Brook were impressed by the Solent crew.

“The project went really well, and I would like to thank Mark Bloor, Jo McLeod, Micah Gates and Dave Poulton for their help and support," Tony added.
