Certificate in Professional Football Management and Administration
The CPFMA was specifically designed by staff at Southampton Solent University in conjunction with the Institute of Football Management and Administration (IFMA) and the League Managers Association (LMA) to provide training and development for administration staff for the 92 UK professional football clubs. Academics from Southampton Solent University and the LMCFR provide much of the taught input, and are complemented by football industry experts. It is the only course specifically designed for the industry, and is viewed as the industry standard qualification.
The intensive course comprises six units and is equivalent to the first year of a UK business degree with credits being transferable for continued study. There are no examinations. Rather, there is an assessment for each unit which must be successfully completed to be awarded the Certificate. Each assessment is related to the football industry in the UK. The course includes visits to football stadia to support the programme, and key speakers from the UK football industry complement the programme by providing deeper insights into the major issues.
