Simon May made a Visiting Professor
Popular composer Simon May has been made a Visiting Professor of Southampton Solent University following his successful series of masterclasses.
As part of the series, May - who is best known for creating the theme tunes of EastEnders, BBC’s Howard Way and Trainer - offered our music students professional tips on how to spot good melodies and write memorable songs.
Impressed with the university, he said: “Solent has amazing facilities, truly dedicated staff and passionate students, three factors that make it a fantastic university to work with."
Popular Music and Record Production| Course Leader Paul Rutter|, who presented him with his award, said: “It was great to see such a warm and interactive response from the students. We are really looking forward to his workshops.”
May will be returning soon to continue his workshops at the University.
