HND Business and Marketing

Enhance your understanding of business and marketing

Enquire: 023 8201 5066

This HND level programme is ideally suited to students who want to specialise in marketing, but would also like to learn more about the business needs and theories that underpin it. Southampton Solent’s thorough business and marketing curriculum, developed in consultation with members of the business community, will help ensure that you learn the broad range of transferable business and marketing skills that modern employers require.

Study at HND level is ideally suited to those who would benefit from a more structured and supportive method of learning. HND qualifications can be developed into a full degree via a one year top-up course.

  • Students learn the essential skills required to drive growth, create brand awareness and manage a range of marketing projects.
  • Southampton Solent’s HND in business and marketing has a long history of successful delivery, with over 60% of students going on to further study at degree level.
  • The course teaching team hold a wealth of industry and academic experience.
  • Units cover a broad range of topics including people management, finance, strategy, law and marketing strategy.
  • The School of Business and Law has been awarded the Small Business Charter, which recognises the support Solent gives to entrepreneurs and local businesses.
  • Southampton Solent’s student entrepreneur programme encourages and supports student businesses.
  • Students are supported as they pursue work placements and other hands-on learning opportunities.
  • The Southampton Solent University campus offers modern facilities including high-end computer suites and comfortable group working spaces.

The industry

The UK’s economic recovery is maintaining a strong pace, with many businesses feeling comfortable enough to focus on growth for the first time since the survival-oriented recession years. Studying business with a marketing focus positions students perfectly to help drive that growth, delivering quality marketing research and then making decisions accordingly.

The programme

Developed with input from industry partners and past students, this course focuses on the essential business and marketing skills that modern employers value. Student learning is supported by an experienced team of tutors and Solent’s custom virtual learning environment, where you will have access to lecture notes, exercises, presentations and other learning resources.

Many of our students progress from this HND onto either a full three-year degree (possibly directly into the second year) or a marketing top-up programme (if they have achieved a merit profile in year two).

Next steps

Think you’ve got what it takes to drive growth in modern businesses? With a supportive teaching team, small class sizes and an innovative curriculum, Southampton Solent University’s HND in business and marketing will help you to develop an understanding of essential marketing theory while you learn transferable business and management skills.
