“I’ve had the time of my life at Southampton Solent University,” declares MA Human Resources Management student Malgorzata Furyk, “Going to an English university has boosted my language skills and confidence.  Southampton Solent University is a culturally diverse institution and I have made many new friends.”

“I decided that human resources is an area with many prospects and a good starting point for my career,” she continues, “Doing the Masters course here at Solent I gain the CIPD qualification after six weeks work experience – It was such a bonus gaining a flavour of the professional HR environment.”

Already being based in Southampton, Malgorzata knew how student friendly the city was, but was impressed by the facilities and additional courses the university offers: “The library and IT suite staff were always helpful and my tutors always supportive.” she reveals. Once she completes her studies Malgorzata aims to return home to Poland to put theory into practice and become an HR manager.

Malgorzata also undertook the university’s language programme learning Spanish to complement her studies: “The Lecturers were natural speakers who went into great detail to teach us. I really enjoyed learning a language and plan to continue after my degree.” She also captained the ladies basketball team, leading them to second place in the BUCS. This year the team won gold in the university championships: “It was the icing on the cake for my studies” smiles Malgorzata.
