MSc Software Engineering Management, 2005 graduate
I was working as a programmer/developer and wanted to make the jump to project manager or development manager. That is why I chose this course. There are loads of jobs out there for someone like this and the course gave me that qualification.
The great thing too, was that I became a development manager when I hadn't even finished the course. I was doing the course part time to fit in with work commitments and I am pleased to say the timetable fitted in pretty well - all classes were in the late afternoon or evening.
The teaching and learning style was very much about us researching and doing things as opposed to just attending a series of lectures. The online aspect of the course played a key part for me too as I could access materials and assignments from home.
The online facility also let me communicate with the other students on the course, which is really handy when you are in part time mode. The course attracts a lot of international students so I met a pretty diverse range of people.
For my final dissertation I chose a topic that relates very much to my development manager role.
