Course overview

The CIPD Intermediate Diploma Human Resource Management qualifications offered by the Southampton Business School provides students with a professional qualification that enables them to pursue a career in HR or line management.

This qualification is offered as either a Diploma in Human Resource Management (HRM) or a Diploma in Human Resource Development (HRD).

The Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification from the CIPD and allows you to become a CIPD Associate Member.

Successful completion provides you with entry to the first stage of the Postgraduate Certificate in Personnel and Development also offered by the Southampton Business School.

Course content

The course contains 4 core units and also 4 specialist units. Learning will be through lectures, seminars, case studies, separate skills development workshops and directed study. Lectures will be illustrated through the use of video / dvd recordings and other normal audio-visual aids. Role-play exercises and situational analyses will also be used.

On a weekly basis this will include research, reading and associated activities. It is anticipated that students will need to study for a further 6 hours per week and possibly longer when completing formal assessments.

Fees

Tuition Fees for the academic year 2012/13 are £1,540 (UK, EU and overseas)

Students are also required to become student members of the CIPD and this costs £190.
