Benefits

Crisis management is a critical feature of modern communications and the key to protecting organisational reputation, especially in the context of online media. Learning and developing strategies from industry professionals enriches organisations and enhances individual career opportunities.

Delivery

A combination of lectures, seminars and independent study, with strong emphasis on blended learning, including face-to-face and online lectures, with short, interactive activities to outline key theories. Workshops include discussions, group tasks and role-play to help participants examine crisis management communication strategies used in a range of ‘real-world’ case studies.

Assessment

Assessment is through an individual research report. Participants research and analyse a given scenario in which crisis management was undertaken. The roots and scope of the crisis are examined along with the crisis management strategies and tactics employed. The effectiveness of these strategies are evaluated and a post-crisis review conducted, with recommendations.

Formative feedback takes place throughout.
