Those going into Adult Social Care Specialist Practice.
Overview
Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) gain credit for learning undertaken in achieving the 12 Outcomes of the Skills for Care NQSW Framework in adult services.
NQSWs follow employer programmes within the workplace and undertake an assessment which focuses on Outcome 12: Professional Development and Accountability.
They are supported by managers through supervision, facilitated action learning sets, targeted induction and training activities according to their own needs.
Areas covered include professional relationships; communication; referral; assessment; planning and intervention; review; safeguarding; recording and sharing information; service development; multi-agency working; community capacity building; professional development and accountability.

Benefits
Provides NQSWs with evidence for the accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning for the Consolidation Unit within the PQ Adults.
Delivery
Active learning is encouraged through action learning sets, ensuring self-managed learning and opportunities for reflective practice.
Through individual learning agreements, participants analyse their own practice, reflect on their learning and produce a continuous professional development plan for their future development.
The portfolio meets the 12 NQSW Outcomes. Participants are actively supported by line managers, through structured and recorded supervision sessions.
Learning is supported by Skills for Care resources and a structured induction programme for newly qualified workers.
Assessment
Assessment is through a portfolio, which includes an analysis of current practice, demonstrating competence in a specialist context, with evidence of communication skills with service users.
Tutors provide formative feedback and advice throughout.
