Benefits

A practical and theoretical grasp of leadership and management skills benefits professionals within their working environments, enriches organisations and enhances individual career opportunities.

Delivery

The student-centred approach delivers interactive workshops mixed with independent study. It draws on participants’ real-life experiences and case studies. Handouts, references and other learning materials are provided in sessions, which incorporate group work and personal study.
Face-to-face, telephone and online tutorials and the University’s online learning resource, myCourse, provide formative feedback and support.

Assessment

A portfolio of activities from sessions forms summative assessments. It encourages participants to demonstrate and reflect on their developing skills and knowledge, and relate these to their future plans/careers.

The portfolio includes a personal development statement and a report into an issue in the participant’s organisation with recommendations and a future development plan.
