Who is this for?

Those working within organisations who would benefit from expanding their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in managing organisational change.

Overview

Using work-based learning, participants examine the role of managers or team leaders in implementing change in the workplace.

Using an underpinning theoretical framework, participants structure their independent learning in analysing the effectiveness of change within their own organisation. Their progress is monitored and supported at key points through tutorials.

Areas studied include drivers and barriers; change champions; and managing transition. Different organisational approaches explore the impact of change on policies, procedures and working practices. Measurement of change through benchmarking and the impact of different management styles are evaluated.

Benefits

In-depth understanding and practical application of managing workplace change ensures organisations are more efficient, while individual career opportunities are enhanced.

Delivery

Learning is workplace-based. Participants are advised on the implications of managing change and asked to identify key organisational responses within their workplace. This provides opportunities for observation, investigation, analysis and planning a contribution to organisational change within their working context.

Independent study is supported by online documents and other material, including case studies. There are regular formative assessments and progress is monitored through face-to-face or telephone tutorials.

Assessment

Assessment is through a final report and presentation, aimed at preparing participants to understand the impact of change in the workplace and to contribute to the effective management of the process.
