Overview
Enhances knowledge and skills in basic marketing principles to promote and develop a more commercial approach to sporting activities and functions.
It encourages reflection and experiential learning to develop effective marketing approaches, principles and application to sports activities and teams.
Areas are tailored in response to specific needs of organisations for in-house training and development, but generally, participants cover customer behaviour, segmentation, target marketing, sports management, market research, branding, image and publicity, the marketing mix and sponsorship.

Delivery
Interactive workshops are delivered as a block, encouraging reflection, discussion and self-assessment through group exercises and case studies.
Group work and personal study is expected between sessions, when handouts, references and other learning materials are provided. Face-to-face, telephone and online tutorials monitor participation, provide formative feedback and mark assessed work.
Assessment
Assessment is based on a written marketing strategy for a sports activity, reflecting newly-developed skills and knowledge.
