"I’m from Coventry, but I decided to study in Southampton because I'd visited the city before and I really liked the location. Now I've made great friends on my course, and studying with them makes the whole learning experience more enjoyable.

"I have always studied hard, throughout school and sixth form, and had always wanted to go to university. Now I hope to carry on studying for a Master in Accountancy and Finance after completing my BA.

"But for now, I’ve just finished my first year and I was pleased to achieve good marks in my group assignments. It can sometimes be difficult to obtain good grades when working with others, especially if not all team members contribute to the group effort, but I worked well with my friends and the good marks are a testament to our hard work.

"I have learned to become more independent and self-reliant during my studies this year. At College you rely a lot more on teachers to provide you with the information required to complete tasks, however things are different at university, you have to do more independent reading and research around subjects in order to complete assignments. As a result, I feel that I have enhanced and developed my skills.

"If you are considering enrolling on the Accountancy and Finance degree course at Solent and aren’t sure whether it is for you, I would recommend that you spend a day in Southampton to get a feel for this costal city. It’s also always best to visit the University itself as different universities suit different people. I personally really enjoy my course and would recommend it."
