I chose the Film and Television Studies degree because I heard so much about the extracurricular opportunities that it offered. Alongside my coursework I always wanted to make video’s outside university and I was supported fully by my tutors to do this. The knowledge and experience they possess has helped me achieve what I believe to be great results and they’re always coming up with new schemes and work experience opportunities which will really help to make us stand out compared to other universities once we’ve all graduated.
This summer I was given the opportunity to film at both Glastonbury and Glade festivals which was a fantastic experience. Not only did I learn about a serious working environment but I also had loads of fun amongst the mayhem. I made loads of contacts within the music industry and already it’s beginning to pay dividends as some of the bands I filmed at the festivals now want me to film them personally. Not only has it created links for me with bands but more importantly, record labels as well as broadcasters such as the BBC recognise us as a university with talented students.
I’m a firm believer in the fact that University should be a pleasure not a chore! Film and TV has been great fun so far and I’m certain it’ll only get better!
