Sport and Tourism Foundation

This one year course is ideal for students who wish to study at degree-level in sport and tourism.

Overview

The Foundation Year provides for the needs of students who require a period of study to update or broaden their knowledge base before attempting Year 1 of a degree programme.

It forms an integral part of an extended degree course and aims to provide you with a range of basic knowledge and skills in the context of sport and tourism.

Note

There are different UCAS codes for degrees with a Foundation Year. You must ensure that the correct UCAS code as listed below is entered on the application form.

Assessment

This will prepare students for the range of assessments that normally form part of an undergraduate course.

Transferable skills are an integral element of this Foundation Year.

Entry level

The general admissions policy is to enable students from a variety of educational backgrounds to be admitted onto a sport, tourism, fitness and exercise or outdoor degree. You must adequately demonstrate the intellectual potential, personal commitment and attitude to work that is necessary for successful completion of your chosen programme of higher education study. 

Passing the Foundation Year of a degree enables you to automatically progress onto the first year of your chosen degree course at the University without needing to re-apply through UCAS.
