"I chose to come to Southampton Solent because the Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing course was exactly what I wanted to do. All other courses I had looked at included broadcast and news journalism which I wasn’t interested in at all, so this course was perfect for me.
"Although it has been a lot of hard work, I have enjoyed my time at Southampton Solent and I look forward to my third and final year. I am learning what it is like to work in the journalism world and we are constantly being encouraged to gain work experience - I’ll be going to Reveal magazine this June! I have also learnt skills, such as shorthand, that I never had before joining Solent.
"The University itself is a friendly, relaxed place where there is always something going on. Before I first started university I was extremely nervous and a very shy person, but coming to University has made me grow up and allowed me to become more confident about talking to new people. It has also given me an idea of where I want to go and what I want to do in life.
"I have made many great friends during my time at university and I have particularly enjoyed sharing a house with a small group, instead of being in halls, as there is much more freedom and you feel much more grown up! I’m extremely glad I came to Southampton Solent and I definitely feel that I made the right choice."
