After gaining her degree Lauren started to look for a position in marketing. “I got a Solent University guide in writing my CV and searched the Internet for relevant jobsites. Putting my CV on these sites let employers look at my achievements and experience and I regularly received updated jobs.” she says.

“I soon had a call from a recruitment agent who put me forward for several positions in distribution and marketing and on my second interview in London I was offered a job at Mosaic Fashions, now Aurora Fashion, the new name behind the famous international fashion brands Karen Millen, Coast, Warehouse and Oasis.”

In her current role as a Distributor, Lauren analyses domestic and international markets to select the right products for the right store. “I have travelled across the UK visiting stores and liaising with staff to ensure that the products available to them suit their demographic”.  She adds: “As I research products and markets all over the world, I always use relevant information and knowledge from my degree. I can whole heartily say that without the practical and theoretical knowledge I learned at Solent I wouldn't be able to work in my current job; my degree has given me the skills I needed in order to succeed in my fast paced job.

“Working in Distribution is a career I enjoy as the products and the markets are always changing. We are now expanding into Germany and Russia and have opened 15 new stores in Dubai and UAE this year alone. I also get to travel to new places, meet lots of new people and develop my skills further” she explains.

“Although I do miss being at university I love putting my skills into practice and enjoy every minute of my job.”
