2012
For the second year running, BA (Hons) Music Promotion students undertook work experience placements at Rob da Bank’s multi-award-winning music festival, Bestival.
Second-year students Sarah Hook
and Chris Ramsay were employed as Artist Liaison at the event and met, amongst others, La Roux, Rolf Harris, Howard Marks and Rodney P.
Regarding the work experience, Chris said: “One of the best things I learned was how things are done from the production side of a festival. Usually the only channels into work at a festival are working shifts on a bar or stewarding. This work placement allowed us to see the other roles available and to gain first hand experience as an artist liason and what that role includes. It has left me with crucial contacts for next year's events.”
Sarah added: “The most valuable skill I learned from my experience at Bestival was the importance of team work, especially within the festival environment. I really enjoyed learning from the professionals and gained confidence in communicating with others and dealing with responsibilities. Apart from that, I enjoyed having the free time at the festival to check out bands and acts, and seeing some of my favourite artists walking around backstage!”
